ootd: how to wear all black without looking boring
coat, skirt, top - Lindex | boots - Dr Martens | stripy top - Zara
They say wearing black never gets old and you will look good in it no matter what. However, I must argue that it doesn't always look amazing. You try to go all black and somehow still you don't look like those French magazine editors in PFW street style photos. I have looked through those photos many times and I have spotted some general tips on how to style all outfit. Let's see!
textures are key: wearing a plain cotton jumper and black jeans might look very casual and not eye catching at all, but what if you replace your jeans with leather trousers and your cotton jumper with a fluffy wool one? Even if it stays all black, I'm sure your outfit will be elevated to the next level and it will look so much more stylish. For my look I chose a leather skirt and a velvet top, I believe those two textures combine beautifully together & velvet is very much on trend this season. What could be better?
go monochrome: all black is great, but what about adding some white into perspective? I think you can never go wrong with stripes and it goes beautifully with black colour. Even white/navy stripes and black can look very chic and elegant, don't you agree? I chose simple Zara top and layered it with my velvet cami - very 90's inspired and very appropriate for this season.
add unexpected accessories/shoes: why wear a cross body bag while you can accessorize with something very different like a simple canvas shopping bag? I think those bags are very underrated and they should be worn more often. It looks interesting, casual & most of all - you can fit everything you need in there. The alternative way to spruce up your look would be to wear some cool shoes. I decided to add my Dr Martens since I thought they would contrast nicely with a skirt.
Btw, I hope you like my new blog design as I'm very chuffed about it. That's it for tonight, I'll be back next week! x
